146. EVA5 E. FLEMING (John4Wesley Fleming, John3, Andrew2, John1); born 1866 in Pennsylvania or New York; married WILLIAM GILLESPIE;774 born circa 1862 in Pennsylvania. In 1910, William and Eva were living in the household of Homer and Myrtle Huntley (William Gillespie's sister) in Pomfret, Chautauqua County, New York, where William was enumerated as a bricklayer (page 2A). This census reported Eve had two children, one living. Also in the household in 1910 was Willliam's mother Adelia Gillespie, widow, and Homer and Myrtle's children. By 1930, William had died, and Eva was living in North East, Erie County, Pennsylvania (page 6A) with her brother-in-law Neal Leet, widower, who had married Eve's sister Henrietta (Fleming) Leet (# 148).

147. GEORGE5 H. FLEMING (John4 Wesley Fleming, John3, Andrew2, John1); born 1868 in New York; married NETTIE [—?—], born 1878 in New York. In 1910, the family lived in North East Township, Erie County, Pennsylvania (page 23B). where George was listed as owning a laundry shop. Also with the family in 1910, was Birdena Henderson, born circa 1872 in Pennsylvania; she was listed as a lodger and dressmaker. Note that George Fleming's grandmother was Esther (Henderson) Fleming (#12); but I can not associoate Birdena with the Hendersons. George, Nettie and family were still in North East Township in 1920.775 By 1930 George had died but Nettie and her children were still in North East Township.(page 6A).

George had been a conductor on a trolley between Erie, Pennsylvania, and Buffalo. According to Boggie (1996), page 336: “As he rounded a corner in Lamberton, New York, where the snow was piled very high, his view was limited and he was unable to see the people standing around the bend. He couldn’t stop in time and two or three people were killed. Unable to cope with this accident, George quit his work immediately.”

  298 i. Donald6 Fleming; born 1901 in Pennsylvania. In 1930, single and living with his mother, Donald was enumerated as a machinist.
  299 ii. Randall Fleming; born circa 1902. In 1930, single and living with his mother, Randall was enumerated as a draftsman for the Electrical Works.



148. HENRIETTA5 FLEMING (John4 Wesley Fleming, John3, Andrew2, John1); born 1869 in New York; married NEAL LEET776; born circa 1866 in Pennsylvania; died 19 February 1935 in North East, Pennsylvania. In 1920, Neal, Henrietta and daughter Esther were living in North East Township, Erie County, Pennsylvania (page 15A), where Neal was manager of water—borough. Also with the family in 1920 was Henrietta's father, J. W. Fleming.

J. NEAL LEET DIES AT HOME IN NORTH EAST
J. Neal Leet, age 69 passed away at his home on W. Main street, Tuesday afternoon. Mr. Leet had been confined to his home for about 5 months.
He had been the borough secretary and treasurer for 33 years and recently since he had been ill, a new system of bookkeeeping had been inaugurated and the accountant found no errors in Mr. Leet's work for all these years. In 1895 he made a map of North East borough which holds a conspicuous place on the walls of the Town Hall.
Mr. Leet had been a resident of North East the greater part of his life and was highly esteemed. He had been prominent in the borough activities especially the water system.
He leaves one son Joseph Leet of New York and one daughter, Mrs. Esther Cover of Altoona, Pa., two sisters, Mrs. N. S. Woodruff of North East and Miss Rebecca Leet of Pasadena, Calif.
Mr. Leet was a member of the Masonic fraternity and the N. E. church.
Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at the Wilson Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. W. J. Small and were largelly attended. The North East borough council attended in a body.   NN ii. Esther Leet; born circa 1900 in Pennsylvania; married [—?—] Cover. At the time of the death of Esther's father in 1935, Mrs. Esther Cover was living in Altoona, Pennsylvania.



154. CLIFFORD5 MARCUS FLEMING (Hugh Marcus4 , John3, Andrew2, John1); born 27 December 1883 in Portland, Chautauqua County, New York; died 8 September 1969 in Westfield, Chautauqua County, New York; married (first) 27 November 1906 MAUDE M. HODGE, born 3 June 1887 in New York; died 6 December 1955; married (second) 27 June 1959 AMY FURMAN.

Clifford Fleming graduated from Bryant & Stratton Business College, Poughhkeepsie, New York. He was an accountant and was Brocton’s (Chautauqua County, New York) mayor from 1945 to 1960.777 In 1920, the family was living in Portland, Chautauqua County, New York (page 3A), where Clifford M. was enumerated as a bookkeeper for ??? Mfg. In 1930, still in Portland (page 12B), Clifford was listed as a proprietor of a confectionary store.

In 1948, Clifforf M. Fleming was Mayor of the Village of Brockton, New York

DIAL SYSTEM AT BROCKTON CUT OVER
The Potland's Telephone Company new dial system was put in operation as scheduled at 10 p.m. Saturday and during the first half hour following the cut-over handled 700 calls.

  301 i. Frances6 Eleanor Fleming; born circa 1908 in New York state; married (first) Frederick C. Trost; born 21 September 1909; died 3 June 1995 (last residence: Portland, Chautauqua County, New York); married (second) Graham C. Wolcott (no issue). One of the children of Frederick and Frances (Fleming) Trost is Sharon Maila Trost; married Edwin Dale Boggie. Sharon has contributed greatly to our Fleming genealogy and is the author of A light in the stern. Genealogical and biographical accounts of our families. Fleming, Trost, Hooper, Boggie in America, 1996.
  302 ii. Charles Marcus Fleming; born circa 1910 in New York state; married Mabel Doris Hanson. In 1930, single and living with his parents in Portland, Charles was listed as a salesman for a confectionary store, presumable the store of his father's.
