232. JESSE5 M. FLEMING (Lawrence4, Hamilton3, Samuel2, John1); born March 1881 in Pennsylvania;841 married ALBERT GUY SHOUP; born 19 October 1877 in Pennsylvania (specific birth date and middle name from Albert's World War II Draft Registration Card). The family lived in New Kensington, Westmoreland County, Lower Burrell Township, Pennsylvania,842 Albert was listed as a spring maker in a spring works in 1910 (census page 6B), and a carpenter for a coal company in 1920 (page 15B). In 1942, Albert and Jesse were still in New Kensington, where Albert was listed as a carpenter at large (re his WWII Draft Registration Card).
 
Known children of Earl and Jesse (Fleming) Shoup:

  366 i. Genevieve6 E. Shoup; born circa 1905 in Pennsylvania. She was listed in the 1910 federal census but not the 1920 federal census.
  367 ii. Mary M. Shoup; born circa 1909 in Pennsylvania. married Russell Craig.
  NN iii. Jean Shoup; born circa 1912 in Pennsylvania.

CLYDE5 HAMILTON FLEMING (Lawrence4, Hamilton3, Samuel2, John1); born 9 December 1883 in Pennsylvania; died 16 January 1960 in Armstrong County Memorial Hospital; buried in Tidal Cemetery; married (first) MINERVA (NERVIE) HELM; born circa 1886 in Pennsylvania; died 1953; buried in Tidal Cemetery;843 married (second), in 1955, MYRTLE HAWK; born 14 August 1884 in Venango County, Pennsylvania; died 2 September 1959 in Brookville (Pennsylvania) Hospital; buried in Widnoon Cemetery, ?New Bethlehem, Armstrong County, Pennsylvania. Myrtle was a daughter of Miles Smith. Myrtle's first husband was William Glenn Hawk, who died in 1951.

The family was in Armstrong County in 1910; lived in Tidal, Pennsylvania. In 1920, Clyde, Minerva, and Harold were living in the same dwelling (dwelling 120, family 126) as Clyde’s father, Lawrence, in Madison Township, Armstrong County, where Clyde was listed as a coal miner.844 He was still listed as a coal miner in 1930 in Madison Township, Armstrong County.845 He was known to have died of black lung disease.846

. . . Fleming was a retired miner, having lived and worked in the Tidal and Widnoon vicinity most of his life. He was a member of the Concord Presbyterian Church. . . .
Surviving are a son Harold L. Fleming of Tidal, a brother, Earl Fleming of Ada, Okla., four step-sons, Clyde B. Hawk of New Orleans, La.; Fred B. Hawk of Hawthorn, Melvin G. Hawk of Shanondale and Calvin C. Hawk of New Bethlehem; three grandchildren and five step-grandchildren. . . Burial will take place in Tidal Cemetery—from Simpson's Leader-Times (Kittanning, Pennsylvania), 18 January 1960; online in the "Stories" section of ancestry.com.


Note: There was also a Clyde Fleming, born circa 1883–1884 (Pennsylvania) enumerated in Clarion County in the 1910 census with wife Minnie [—?—], born circa 1883 (Pennsylvania) and daughter Mildred Fleming, born circa 1908 in Pennsylvania. I can not place this Clyde Fleming.

Fleming; born circa 1904 in Pennsylvania; married Mary Alice Shoup;848 born 20 September 1911 in Butler County, Pennsylvania (a daughter of John and Flodie Crissman Tolm); died 12 September 1975 in Armstrong Memorial Hospital; buried in Tidal Cemetery, Armstrong County, Pennsylvania. The family lived in Templeton (Kittanning area), Pennsylvania. In 1930, still single and living with his parents, Harold was enumerated as a laborer on the railroad.

Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Fleming entertained at dinner on Saturday evening in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Fleming who returned that afternoon from a honeymoon trip to Niagara Falls and Buffalo , N. Y.. Those present were Mrs. John Polm and daughter Annabelle, Mrs. L. H. Fleming, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Helm and Rev. and Mrs. Walter Kennedy.—Simpson's Leader-Times (Kittanning, Pennsylvania), 17 June 1930; online in the "Stories" section of ancetry.com.

(ii) Cynthia Fleming; married Wayne Craig.
(iii) Lucille Fleming; married David Church.



234. ANNABELLE5 FLEMING (Lawrence4, Hamilton3, Samuel2, John1); born 13 April 1886 in Pennsylvania; died 19 January 1925; married CLYDE WADDELL, born 9 January 1886 in Pennsylvania; died 18 January 1977. Annabelle died about a month after the birth of her third child, Betty Jean Waddell.849

In 1920, Clyde and Anna B. were living in Cornplanter Township, Venengo County, Pennsylvania (page 2A), where Clyde was eumerated as a foreman of a gas plant. After Annabelle’s death, Clyde Waddell married Helen H. [—?—], born circa 1904 in Pennsylvania; they lived in Oil Creek Township, where Clyde was enumerated as a pumper (oil wells); one of Clyde and Helen’s children was Edward P. Waddell,850 who provided valuable information on descendants of Lawrence Fleming; and, in his capacity as President of the Fairview Cemetery Association, he provided information on Fairview Cemetery burials.

  370 ii. twin Fleming; died in infancy.
  371 iii. Betty Jean Waddell; died in infancy.



235. EARL5 FLEMING (Lawrence4, Hamilton3, Samuel2, John1); born June 1886 or born 1890;851 apparently deceased by 1918 (when Ray Craig Fleming died). Earl married [—?—] and lived in Oklahoma.852
